The One Big Beautiful Bill Act introduces new tax deductions for tips and overtime pay, but what do these changes mean for employers?

Beginning with the 2025 tax year, eligible employees may qualify for federal income tax deductions of up to $12,500 for qualified overtime compensation ($25,000 for joint filers) and $25,000 for qualified tips.

Yesterday, our Nonprofit team members Caroline Root and Mark Murphy partnered with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to lead Unpacking the 990, an educational session designed to help nonprofit leaders better understand the information behind this important filing.

From sharing best practices and identifying common mistakes to exploring governance responsibilities and opportunities for greater transparency, the conversation focused on helping nonprofits use Form 990 as a valuable tool beyond compliance.
