💳 Paying the IRS by card may soon get a little easier.

The IRS has finalized rules allowing taxpayers to pay taxes directly to the IRS with a credit or debit card, rather than going through third-party payment processors.

While taxpayers will still be responsible for any processing fees, the change could simplify the payment process and provide additional convenience, including the ability to make certain payments directly over the phone.

The IRS believes the new system will improve efficiency, reduce paper check processing, and modernize how tax payments are made.

A small change, but another step toward a more modern IRS.

📣 Breaking News: The tax deadline has officially been defeated.

Our team spent the last several months racing toward October 15, and we're happy to report that the deadline did not win.

✅ Temporarily avoid talking about tax returns

Nothing beats a little time outside the office with great people! ⚾

Last weekend, some of our team enjoyed a Braves vs. Marlins game, taking a break from spreadsheets, tax deadlines, and client meetings to enjoy some baseball and good company.

We're grateful for opportunities to connect outside of work and build the relationships that make our team so special. Looking forward to the next outing!

One of my favorite types of tax victories happened today.

A client came to us thinking they had a closed chapter with the IRS- they had received penalties years ago, their previous CPA fought the penalties and lost, so the client paid the bill and moved on.

Or so they thought.

When we dug into the details, we discovered they actually weren't late at all. Their filing deadline had been extended because of hurricane relief here in Southwest Florida. The problem? The original request used the wrong hurricane and the wrong IRS relief provisions.

We corrected the request, cited the right disaster relief rules, and today the IRS approved it.

Result: the client is getting a check back for penalties they never should have paid in the first place.

That's why we review everything with fresh eyes.
