It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Florida! I’m loving the cozy vibes (and a sprinkle of pumpkin spice on my chai latte). ☕🍂

Fall also means the year is heading into its final stretch, and a lot of business owners are realizing they have 9+ months of bookkeeping waiting.

If that’s you, take a breath. You’re not the first, and it’s more fixable than it feels. Life gets busy, and the books are often the first thing to slip. No judgment here.

Here’s what catching up actually involves:
1. Gather your bank and credit card statements for the missing months
2. Sort each transaction into the right category, so you can see where your money is coming from and going
3. Match everything to your statements so the numbers are accurate
4. Review the finished numbers so you know where your business stands
You can tackle it yourself or hand it off. Either way, the steps are the same, and it’s very doable.

Why do it now instead of waiting for tax season? Because you can still make year-end decisions with real numbers in front of you, and you won’t be scrambling when everyone is calling their accountant in the new year.

If you’d rather hand it off, or just want to talk through where to start, send me a message and we’ll set up a free consult to scope out what’s involved. My onboarding calendar is limited, so reaching out sooner gives you the best shot at an early spot.

Know someone who’s been putting this off? Feel free to send this their way.

I’m curious – what part of bookkeeping has felt most challenging for your business this year?

Some weeks, the work just doesn't move the way you planned. Who can relate?

Lately, for me, it's been a mix of personal life needing my attention and work tasks that keep revealing "one more question" before they can be finished.

It can be easy to feel like that kind of week is a failure. Now, I try to accept them as part of the rhythm. Running a business, and life in general, is rarely a steady pace – or a straight line.

What helps me:
• Choosing one priority and letting the rest wait
• Writing down open items so they're not living in my head
• Remembering that slow progress is still progress

If you're in a stretch like that right now, you're not behind. You're human. And if your books are one of the things that slipped, that's fixable too.

As we wrap up September and head into the final quarter of the year, I want to take a moment to celebrate all the business owners out there.

You've spent the last nine months showing up, making decisions, solving problems, navigating unexpected challenges, and working toward the goals you set for your business.

Running a business isn't always easy, and it's worth taking a moment to recognize how far you've come. Whether the year has unfolded just as you planned or taken a few unexpected turns, there's still time to build on your progress, refocus where needed, and work toward the things that matter most to you.

I'm cheering you on as you head into Q4! I hope these final three months bring you meaningful progress, profitable opportunities, and plenty of reasons to be proud of what you've built.

I'd love to hear from you: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫—𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬?

One of my favorite parts of bookkeeping is finding ways to make a business owner's life 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓!

This morning I finished setting up an automated workflow for a property management client who has been spending far too much time chasing rent payments, tracking partial payments, following up on open balances, and handling utility reimbursements.

Starting next month, the process will look very different:
• Rent invoices automatically sent 5 days before the 1st
• Automatic payment reminders if rent hasn't been received
• Late fees automatically applied after the grace period
• Payments automatically matched to the correct invoice
• Income automatically coded to the appropriate property

Instead of manually managing each step every month, the system will handle the routine work in the background.

Then I had fun creating a screen-record video walkthrough for the owner so she could review each part of the workflow—from the invoice template and reminders to late fees and individual tenant invoices—without having to hunt through QuickBooks herself.

Where in your business are you still doing something manually that you wish you could automate?

I had the pleasure of attending an amazing women’s conference to close out my week. While I went in with no expectations, I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I took away from it.

“𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝐹𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑃𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑎𝑙” was the perfect theme for two days filled with connection, encouragement, and thoughtful reminders about growth.

A couple things that really stayed with me:
✨ Focus on who you can 𝒃𝒆, not just what you can 𝒅𝒐. Kind, helpful, confident, brave, positive—those qualities shape the impact we have.
✨ Reframe fear. Fear means you have a real, vested interest in something. You may never feel completely ready to take the next step, but with a little bravery, you can become ready by doing it.

And perhaps one of my favorite parts was being surrounded by so many women who are working to grow, learn, and step more fully into their potential.

I’m leaving feeling encouraged, reenergized, and reminded that growth sometimes looks like connecting more deeply, choosing more intentionally, and being willing to take the next brave step.

Your books don't have to be perfect to be useful.
I talk with a lot of business owners who hesitate to look closely at their financials because they know there are things that need to be cleaned up.

But having imperfect information is often better than having no information at all.

Even a simple look at your current income, expenses, and cash flow can help you identify what's working, what's changing, and where you may need to adjust.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you start paying attention to the numbers.

Summer may be winding down, but my second busy season of the year is picking up!

Business owners with September and October deadlines are working to get their 2025 financials in order, while others are taking a closer look at their 2026 year-to-date numbers as we approach the end of Q3.

Having current, accurate financials gives your tax advisor the information they need to help with estimated tax planning—and, more importantly, gives you a clearer picture of where your business stands heading into the final months of the year.

Regardless of where you are in the tax cycle, it's never the wrong time to have a clear picture of your business finances.

It's easy to feel like there's always one more email to answer, one more project to finish, or one more thing to check off the list.

Taking time to step away shouldn't be viewed as a distraction from your business – in many ways, it’s part of taking care of it.

I'll be spending some time offline over the next week, enjoying the outdoors and making memories with some of my favorite people.

I'm looking forward to coming back refreshed and ready for what's ahead.

Building a sustainable business also means building space to recharge. I hope you find a little time to recharge this summer, too.

Most business owners I meet are carrying some level of stress about their finances.

They're busy serving customers, managing employees, solving problems, trying to keep everything moving forward and don't always have time to focus on the numbers.

Knowing that has shaped my approach to bookkeeping – it isn't just about keeping perfect books.

It's about creating a space where business owners feel comfortable asking questions, understanding what's happening, and moving forward without judgment.

The numbers matter.

But so does the trust behind them.

Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do for your business isn't adding something new—it's taking a closer look at what's already there.

With six months of the year complete, it’s a great time to sit down with your numbers and reflect on what your business is telling you.

Maybe one product/service has become more profitable than expected.
Maybe expenses have slowly crept up.
Maybe you're hitting goals you didn't think were possible.
Maybe it's time to adjust course for the second half of the year.

The important part is knowing where you stand.

When your financials are organized and up to date, you can make decisions based on facts instead of assumptions.
