In case you have been wondering, the IRS announced it's official opening date for accepting 2025 tax returns. Just a few more weeks. January 26, 2026. (pictured is our favorite retiree and the man who started it all, David Ratliff).

The Big Beautiful Tax Bill is full of all kinds of new stuff. Rest assured our tax preparers are fully aware of how it will affect you, our valued clients. And are ready to maximize your refund(s) or minimize what you owe. Be sure and call for an appointment if you are new to us. If you are an existing client, no need to schedule an appointment unless you need to discuss something with your preparer. Just drop off your originals anytime between 8:30 and 5:00 Monday through Friday. Remind us when you drop off your documents if:

-your mailing address and/or phone number has changed
-you have a new addition to the family or a dependent that has aged out
-you made any estimated tax payments to apply toward your 2025 tax return
-you received a personal identification number (PIN) from the IRS because of stolen identity or fraudulent activity.

Confused about the Advance Child Tax Credit payments? You are not alone. We have lots of clients asking if they should opt out. Or if it is too late to opt out. It is too late to opt out of the July payment. The good news though is it is NOT too late to opt out of the remaining five payments (Aug - Dec). By following the link provided below, you will access the IRS website and can register for the Child Tax portal where you may manage your payments, including opting out. (see section entitled MANAGE PAYMENTS)

The IRS announced yesterday that the tax deadline for individual and business returns is extended until June 15, 2021 for Oklahoma and Texas. However, with the third stimulus checks that are soon to come out, the IRS will more than likely go by the last tax return you filed. Many of you have had a dip in income from 2019 to 2020. Keep that in mind while deciding when to have your return completed. Remember...you can still file your taxes now and not have to pay until June 15. Just a friendly reminder. Thank you!

OK-2021-01, February 25, 2021 — Victims of winter storms that began February 8, 2021 now have until June 15, 2021, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the IRS announced today.

Ratliff Accounting will remain open but will be taking necessary precautions due to public health concerns. We ask that if you wish to bring in your tax documents that you would please drop them off at the front desk or call and someone will meet you outside the office. We are now limiting face to face appointments. If you need to talk to one of the accountants, please call and we can set up a phone conference to discuss your questions and concerns. We also are able to take your tax information via email or fax. Our goal is to continue to help all clients make this as easy as possible and to file your returns at the proper time. Please call if you have any questions or concerns. On a side note, David Ratliff will not be allowed to see anyone, at anytime, under any circumstances. Thank you!
