In the last several weeks, I have seen IRS letters to our clients that are in error, that do not show the tax already paid with the 2021 return, or that state the tax payer needs to provide more proof of what’s already been filed. For whatever reason, the IRS is struggling to reconcile tax returns filed, payments made, etc. If you receive anything from the IRS or the state, please contact us immediately. Do not assume the letter is correct, let us read through it and confirm the information first.
