ALERT!!!! BEWARE of the miscommunication: The due date is still APRIL 15th, 2025:
"When logging into a taxpayer’s online account on IRS.gov, the system displays April 22, 2025, as the extension payment due date instead of the correct April 15, 2025, deadline.

One possible explanation is that April 22 may refer to the five-business-day window to “perfect” a failed e-file submission. In these situations, while the original filing must still be submitted by April 15, the IRS allows until April 22 to correct errors and resubmit without late filing penalties. However, the site does not explain this situation, and the message lacks context."

BEWARE Folks! It's going to take time to resolve any of your issues. Patience is a virtue!
The IRS will fire about 6,000 employees this week. Most are new hires or have worked up to 2 years for the agency.
When notified after arriving at work, badges will be collected and fired workers will be walked out of the buidling.
Employees at other Federal agencies who lost their jobs since January 20th have been given an hour to pack belongings and leave.
Then they must fight their state's unemployment as they have been fired.
This will affect tax practitioners who must advocate for their clients at the agency, and it will affect tax filers both during the current tax season and for the foreseeable future. Amendments will take longer to process, telephones will not be answered, answers will not be forthcoming - IOW the usual studied IRS slowness will become delay on steroids.
