The LLC was approved. Then everything went quiet.
An approval letter feels like the finish line. For a landscaping and property-services owner I worked with, it was the starting block. The filing was accepted, but weeks later the company existed only on paper: the EIN had been applied for but never confirmed as issued, no bank account was ready, the formation documents were scattered, and official mail was piling up unread because nobody was assigned to receive it.
The business had not collapsed. It had quietly stalled.
What closed the gap was a short, ordered checklist. Save the formation documents and filing confirmation together. Confirm whether the EIN was actually issued and keep its assignment record. Assemble a banking-ready document set and check the institution's requirements. Name one person to receive and route official mail. Keep the records from the very first transaction: invoices, receipts, contributions, expenses.
"Filed" and "ready to operate" are two different milestones.
