***Community Commissioning – Initial Questions from Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou***

As part of our ongoing due diligence, Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou has provided an initial set of questions to the Social Investment Agency and the Community Commissioning Working Group following recent discussions.

These questions are intended to help us better understand the proposed model, including how decisions would be made, how Treaty relationships and mana motuhake would be protected, how conflicts of interest would be managed, and what the implications may be for Ngāti Porou whānau, hapū, providers and communities.

This is Version 1 of our questions and forms part of a wider process of information gathering, legal consideration and engagement.
We remain committed to ensuring any future decisions are approached carefully, transparently, and with the interests of whānau and hapū at the centre.

***Ngati Porou Treaty Rights at risk in Community Commissioning Discussions***

Ngāti Porou is raising important questions about current Community Commissioning discussions and proposals impacting our rohe.

Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou acknowledges the importance of improving outcomes for whānau, but also recognises growing concern around mandate, mana motuhake, Treaty relationships, and the role of hapū in decision-making processes.

As part of ongoing due diligence, Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou met this week with the Tairāwhiti Community Commissioning Working Group to better understand the scope, structure, and implications of these proposals.

These conversations are complex and intergenerational in nature. Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou remains committed to ensuring any future decisions are approached carefully, transparently, and with whānau and hapū at the centre.

Hapū engagement will remain critical as kōrero continues ahead of upcoming Hui-a-Iwi (Community Engagement Hui) and Crown discussions in June.
