We mentioned in our last post our purpose was to help business owners and businesses to be better, stronger and faster.
What does a better business looks like?
Imagine your business has a heart. Our heart in our body is used to pump blood containing oxygen around our body to ensure our body continues to function.
Similarly, like our human body, a business also needs blood to function. Cashflow is the life “blood” of the business. If the human body is starved of oxygen, the patient will die. In a business if there is insufficient cash, the business will die.
A better or healthy business:
- At its heart, continues to maintains the blood (“cashflow”) ensuring all parts of the business stay healthy.
- has a leader with a clear vision of what they want.
- is open to change and new learning.
- has someone independent who will keep them accountable.
- has a plan or roadmap to navigate through the ups and downs. They know where they are and how to get to their destination.
- has a regular monitoring system. If lights are orange or flashing red, the business owner can take corrective action to ensure the business continues to thrive rather than survive.

What’s holding you back from taking the next step???
Are you waiting for things to be “perfect”. Its one of the reasons that people give up with the New years resolutions at the beginning of February.
Unfortunately, things in business and our personal lives are seldom perfect and we hope that if we wait long enough things will improve. But hope is not a strategy.
Procrastination is the “thief of time” and stymies our ability to make things happen. If you are suffering from procrastination or “getting round-to-it” with your next steps in your business give us a call. We’d love to help you breakthrough the wall of procrastination and help get your business moving better, faster and stronger.
With you and us working together you no longer have to feel alone.

Following on from last weeks theme. Perhaps you’ve made a few new years resolutions and already you’re starting to feel its all “a bit too hard” and ready to give up.
Think about one of the things that you wanted to do, for example to lose some weight. Perhaps you’ve started dieting and it hasn’t worked out and weighed yourself and seen no change.
It’s going to take a plan to help you stay motivated and help you lose weight.
Similarly in your business if you want to get more money, you’re going to need a plan, we call it a “roadmap” or business plan, and if you’re new to business (just starting up) or an existing business, having one increases your businesses chance of surviving and thriving.
Do you have one? If you don’t its not too late… there are some free tools you can download from business.govt.nz to help you.
However, it’s been our experience, that business owners struggle and it’s a nice to have something that they’ll get round to it. Or they complete it and it sits at the bottom of the drawer never to be seen again.
Instead, we’d suggest a collaborative approach helping you write your own business plan would be more effective at getting you moving and motivated with someone to hold you accountable.

We’re over halfway through our first month of a new year. Many of us make New Year resolutions such as: losing weight we gained over Christmas and New Year, paying off our credit card debt or saving for a holiday to the Gold Coast to name a few examples.

We would all have a started with the best of intentions but by the end of next month , we give up, why is that???

While we have the best of intentions, we choose to spend our time reacting to what happens to us on a day to day basis and we soon forget about our new year resolutions.

2024 may have been a year to forget for you. Grappling with high cost of living pressures, a small $5.24 a week tax cut, and static or reducing income and struggling to pay all the bills. Perhaps you’ve just finished paying off your business GST and being lumped with paying your income tax in advance.

It got me thinking about my Why…. Why did I start my business. The short answer was to help people achieve their lifestyle and business goals.

And that’s what we need to turn our new years resolutions into reality. If you’re grappling with some of things I’ve talked about and need help please contact us either PM me or contact me via our message https://www.jba.net.nz/contact-us//
