Yesterday’s Autumn Budget focused on easing the cost of living, supporting businesses and maintaining economic stability.

Key points include:

🔹 Cost of living: Targeted support for household energy bills and continued fuel duty relief.
🔹 Wages: An increase in the National Living Wage from April 2027.
🔹 Business rates: Further support for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses.
🔹 Tax: Changes to savings and property income tax rates from April 2027.
🔹 Housing: Additional investment in affordable housing and support for first time buyers.

🎓 7 College Audits Completed in September!

September has been a busy month for our team, with 7 college audits successfully completed across a diverse range of settings.

We’ve had the opportunity to work with:

🎓 Mainstream sixth form colleges

Every college has its own unique community, priorities and challenges, and it’s been great to work alongside staff and leaders across such a varied range of educational settings.

A huge thank you to all the colleges and teams who welcomed us, shared their time and supported the audit process. We really value the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement and help organisations reflect on what they do well and where they can develop further.

Our Partner Mike Benson attended Accountex Manchester yesterday to explore the latest AI products and technologies shaping the accountancy profession.

It was a great opportunity to see what’s currently available, discover how AI is being used in practice, and consider how these tools could help us work smarter and deliver even greater value to our clients.

The future of accountancy is changing quickly and we’re keen to stay ahead of it. 🤖📊

⭐️New Team Member⭐️

Francis Slingsby BSc (Hons) PGCE
Audit and Accounts Executive

Francis graduated in Mathematics from the University of Warwick and gained a PGCE in Secondary Education from the University of Oxford.

He is an experienced Maths teacher and former Head of Department, who is now part way through his ACA training to become a qualified accountant.

Francis works on audit clients across the team’s portfolio and prepares accounts for our limited company clients.

🎓 Our education work is getting underway!

While the summer break has been in full swing, we’ve been busy behind the scenes carrying out interim audit work and getting everything ready for the season ahead.

We’re proud to have developed a strong presence working with sixth-form colleges and multi-academy trusts, and it’s great to be moving from the behind-the-scenes planning and preparation into the onsite phase of our work.

The new academic year is underway — and so are we! 📚📊

We have just received confirmation of our duck number for this coming Saturdays business duck race in the River Festival organised by Rotary in Northwich

All money raised will be donated to the winners chosen charity. Ours is Petty Pool Vocational College
