Joyce’s Final Cake Day 🎂💙

On the first Friday of every month, our office comes together for cake and samosas. A popular tradition kept alive by a very special staff member: the one and only, Joyce 💙. Today’s cake day felt especially bittersweet as we get ready to say goodbye to Joyce at the end of the month.

Joyce, we wish you all the best for your next chapter. Thank you for the many years of care you’ve given to the team. Keeping us stocked, organised, and always bringing extra joy to our Cake Days. Your warmth and bright smile will be truly missed.

Goodbye and good luck! Cake Days won’t be the same without you 💙🎂

The Voluntary Disclosure Programme has long been a route for taxpayers to regularise their affairs with relief from penalties and prosecution.

But there’s a catch.

Interest on outstanding tax debt remains payable, and recent confirmation from the Constitutional Court has reinforced that this cannot be waived after a VDP agreement is concluded.

This has highlighted a key challenge: while penalties may fall away, interest can still be substantial enough to discourage disclosure.

Proposed amendments in the 2026 Budget aim to address this by allowing taxpayers to apply for interest remission at the time of disclosure.

In this article, Delecia Venter unpacks:

- What relief the VDP currently provides
- Why interest remains payable
- What the Constitutional Court ruling means
- How proposed changes could shift the landscape

South Africa’s farmers are navigating more than just seasonal challenges; they’re navigating a funding system that often works against them.

Despite agriculture’s critical role in the economy, many farmers struggle to access the capital needed to grow, with nearly 90% of smallholders remaining underfunded.

The result? Limited scalability, constrained productivity, and missed opportunity.

Brendan Robinson unpacks:

- How the agricultural finance landscape has evolved
- Where the biggest gaps exist today
- Why collaboration and innovation are key to moving forward
