Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to enforce Abraham Lincoln’s order to end slavery in the rebelling state farthest west It’s been observed as a day to honor this history and celebrate Black culture and resilience, and it officially became a federal holiday in 2021. In observance of the holiday, our office will be closed on June 19th. We’ll be back on Monday, June 22nd. We hope you have a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth!
