Retirement isn't just about how much you save.

Here's what savvy investors took away from Q3

10/23/2026

This month marks one year since I transitioned from recruiting into financial planning.

Over the past year, I've completed the Amplified Planning Externship, passed the Series 65, continued building my technical knowledge, and now I'm beginning my CFP education.

I've learned a lot this year, but one thing has become really clear: this is work I care deeply about and want to keep getting better at.

I love helping people. I love educating, guiding, and encouraging others. I love being someone my clients feel safe asking questions, talking things through with, and trust to help them figure out what comes next.

There is still so much I want to learn, and I'm excited to keep growing.

One year in, and I'm looking forward to seeing what year two brings.

Choosing a certification or continuing education is not only a career decision but also a financial one.

Before committing the time and money, take a look at where you want your career to go.

Is the degree or certification actually necessary or beneficial for where you are headed? Will you use what you learn? What will it cost? Are there scholarships, employer benefits, or other ways to help cover the expense?

Continuing education can be a great investment, but it should be intentional
I love conversations that bridge career and finances. If you are considering a degree, certification, or continuing education and want to brainstorm, reach out.

I am excited to share that I received a scholarship toward my CFP education through The American College of Financial Services Military and Veterans Center.

Continuing education takes time, energy, and money. Support like this makes a big difference, and I am so thankful.

Classes begin this month and I am looking forward to taking another step toward earning my CFP certification, expanding my knowledge, and continuing to grow as a financial planner.

There is always more to learn in financial planning, and that is part of what I love about this work. The more I learn, the more I can educate and guide the people who trust me with their financial lives. It is important work, and I am thankful I get to do it.

Even if they saved the same amount.

Why 65?

It's an age I hear people use for retirement all the time.

Sometimes there's a reason behind the number. Other times, it's simply the age that has always sounded like “retirement.”

But the age you choose affects how long you have to save, how much you may need, and how long your money may need to support you.

Before building a retirement plan around an age, it's worth knowing why you chose it.

Not sure when retirement makes sense for you? Let's talk.

When you combine lives, what happens to the money?

At some point, many couples need to figure out how money is going to work together.

Do you combine everything? Keep separate accounts? Have one joint account for shared expenses and keep the rest separate?

There isn't one system that works for every couple.

Who pays for what? How do you save for things together? What happens when one person earns more than the other?

You don't have to manage money the same way. But it helps to have a system you've both talked about and understand.

Combining finances comes with a lot of decisions. Reach out if you'd like help figuring out what could work for you.
