Steps to Take After Receiving a CP53E Notice:
Do Not Call: IRS employees cannot update bank information for this notice.
Update Online: Sign in to your IRS Online Account at IRS.gov to input your bank details.
Deadline: Take action within 30 days.
If You Don't Act: A paper check will be mailed after approximately 6 weeks.
Verify Update: Monitor the status via "Where's My Refund?" tool 2-5 days after updating.
Check Rejected: If your updated bank info is rejected, the IRS will automatically issue a paper check.
