Sun Nov 8: All Souls Procession, free. Arrive by 4 at Speedway and Grande; the walk starts at 6.
Wed Nov 11: Veterans Day, free entry to Saguaro National Park (normally $25 per car).
Nov 13-14: DUSK Music Festival downtown. Kids 10 and under free with a ticketed adult.
Nov 19-21: El Tour de Tucson. The Expo and Fiesta at the Convention Center are free, and riders go out Saturday.
Opens Nov 27: LightsUp at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, with a million lights. It sells out, so book early.
Sat Nov 28: the 100th Territorial Cup, Wildcats vs. ASU.

Three things to compare before you finance a car at a dealership.
1. The rate: a dealer-arranged rate may include a markup, so compare it with an offer from your credit union.
2. The add-ons: anything added to your loan accrues interest too.
3. The term: a longer term can lower your monthly payment but increase the total interest you pay.
Getting pre-qualified first gives you a number to compare against, so you can focus on negotiating one figure: the out-the-door price.

At a credit union, our members are the owners. A $5 membership share makes you one. Credit unions are not-for-profit, and our earnings help us offer competitive rates, lower fees
and more benefits for members. Our board is made up of volunteers who are also members, elected by members.

What does a new Ford Bronco really cost each month? Here's one example.
Price plus destination: $45,185
Tucson sales tax (8.7%): $3,931, for about $49,116
Down payment (example): $5,815, leaving about $43,301 financed
Payment at 7% APR over 72 months: about $738/month
Insurance (Bronco average): about $221/month
That comes to about $960/month, plus the down payment up front, before gas, maintenance and registration. Ford's warranty covers 3 years/36,000 miles basic and 5 years/60,000
miles powertrain. If a dealer offers extra coverage, ask what it adds to your payment.

Checking your credit before you sign a car loan can change what you pay.
Your credit can affect your rate and the total cost of the loan. One habit that may help: pay your card down before your statement closes, because that balance is what gets reported
to the credit bureaus. Find the closing date on your statement or in your card's app. It's usually a few weeks before the due date.
Your closing date can move a day or two each month, so check it every statement.
Get your balance low before that date and your score may move in about a month. Then get pre-approved before you shop. Dealership credit checks for the same car loan made
within about two weeks generally count as one inquiry.

Five credit habits, side by side 📊

🚗 Let the dealership run your credit while you shop, vs. get pre-approved at your credit union first
💳 Pay the minimum, vs. pay the full statement balance to avoid interest on purchases
👀 Check only after a denial, vs. check regularly. Hughes members can check for free in the Hughes app with CreditSmart, and it doesn’t hurt your score.
🗂️ Close old cards, vs. keep your oldest card open. Closing it shrinks your available credit and can raise your utilization.
⚠️ Ignore errors, vs. dispute them. You can start a dispute right in CreditSmart.
