If your dog flops onto the bed like it’s his personal mattress, or your cat uses your legs as a midnight jungle gym, you’re not alone.

Researchers say our furry companions can mess with our sleep—light snoozers, midnight zoomies, and all that dander—but many pet owners still say it’s worth it for the comfort and connection.

Honestly? It depends on the person. Some people sleep better with their pets close. Others might not realize that their restless nights are tied to tiny paws or a twitchy tail.

Whether you’re team “dog bed on the floor” or “cuddle till morning,” there’s no one-size-fits-all answer—just what helps you wake up rested and happy.

Lots of pet owners let their animals sleep on the bed with them, even though it's probably disturbing their sleep.

A Tiny T. rex Cousin Just Changed the Dinosaur Family Tree 🦖

Sometimes, the biggest discoveries come from fossils that have been sitting in a museum for decades. Paleontologists just identified a new species related to the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex—and it’s giving major “agile apex predator in training” vibes.

📍 Found in the Gobi Desert
📏 About 13 feet long
🏃‍♂️ Likely fast and nimble

Named Khankhuuluu mongoliensis, this little powerhouse helps fill in key gaps in the tyrannosaur family tree. It’s a reminder that our understanding of the past is constantly evolving—and there’s still so much left to uncover.

Science is just really, really cool sometimes. 🔍✨

Paleontologists have discovered a new species of dinosaur that belongs to the same group of the infamous Tyrannosaurus rex.

One step closer to a cleaner future 🌊

Scientists in Japan have developed a new kind of plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours, without leaving behind microplastics. Created by the RIKEN Center and the University of Tokyo, this material is as strong as conventional plastic but breaks down safely when exposed to salt.

There has been no commercial rollout yet, but interest is growing fast, especially from the packaging industry. Considering ocean plastic pollution is projected to triple by 2040, breakthroughs like this could be a game-changer.

It’s not just science fiction anymore—it’s science with purpose.

Japanese researchers have created a plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours, potentially addressing the global issue of ocean pollution.

Treasury yields fell sharply last week after new data showed private sector job growth slowed to just 37,000 in May—the weakest showing in over two years, according to ADP. That’s well below April’s revised figure and less than half of what economists expected.

Here’s what’s driving the reaction:
▪️ Slower job growth often signals cooling economic momentum, which can lead investors to shift toward safer assets like Treasuries.
▪️ The 10-year yield dropped more than 9 basis points, while the 2-year fell by

▪️ Adding to the tension, new 50% tariffs on imported steel and aluminum took effect, raising questions about inflation and manufacturing costs.

Taken together, these developments are fueling uncertainty around growth, rates, and the road ahead — and markets are responding in real time.

Treasury yields dropped Wednesday after ADP said payroll growth was the weakest in more than two years, Trump urged a Fed rate cut and 50% steel tariffs began.

What if your neighborhood didn’t just have sidewalks and lawns, but a working farm?

In Agritopia, a community outside Phoenix, the heart of the neighborhood is an organic farm. It’s part of a growing movement called “agrihoods,” where sustainable living, shared green space, and locally grown food come together to support a more connected way of life.

For many people, it’s not just about where you live—it’s about how you live, and the freedom to make intentional choices that reflect your values.

If you're thinking about making a move that feels more aligned with your lifestyle goals, your finances can be a key part of that foundation. Let’s talk about what that might look like for you.

Outside of Phoenix in suburban Gilbert, one farming family decided over 10 years ago to get ahead of development and urban sprawl by developing their way.

Checked bags just became a billion-dollar business.

Last year alone, U.S. airlines made over $7.2 billion from checked bag fees, with some carriers now rolling out surge pricing, fee hikes, and new bag rules. Even Southwest, long known for letting your first two bags fly free, is changing course.
If you travel often, especially for work or with family, these small shifts can add up fast.

As travel costs evolve, it's worth being mindful of the hidden fees that come with convenience. Whether it’s budgeting for upcoming trips or simply packing lighter, a little foresight can go a long way.

Southwest Airlines recently announced it will start charging $35 for the first checked bag. Here's a breakdown of how much revenue bag fees bring.

🏠 Spring Slowdown Hits the Housing Market

April is typically peak season for homebuyers, but this year, high mortgage rates and rising prices kept many on the sidelines.

• Existing home sales dropped to their slowest April pace since 2009
• Median home price: $414,000—a record for the month
• Mortgage rates hovered near 6.8%, up from earlier in the year
• Inventory rose 9% from March, but is still below pre-pandemic levels

While more homes are hitting the market, affordability challenges continue to shape the housing conversation this spring.

Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes fell in April, as elevated mortgage rates and rising prices discouraged prospective home shoppers during what’s traditionally the busiest time of the year for the housing market.

🌪 NOAA Forecasts an Active Hurricane Season—Are You Prepared?

NOAA is predicting a 60% chance of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season in 2025, with up to 19 named storms and several expected to reach major hurricane strength.

While forecasts can shift, now is a good time to:

• Review your insurance coverage and important documents
• Check in on your emergency savings and access to cash
• Talk with loved ones about your household safety plan
• Consider how bad weather could impact your home or business

Weather events can cause more than physical damage—they can also disrupt finances and routines. A little preparation can go a long way.

With the 2025 hurricane season starting June 1, NOAA forecasters announced their prediction for how many tropical storms and hurricanes to expect this year.

Most U.S. adults are still finding ways to give back—even in challenging times 💙✨

A new AP-NORC poll found:

➡️ 75% of U.S. adults gave to a charitable cause last year
➡️ Top donations went to faith-based groups and organizations meeting basic needs like food and shelter 🏠

💊 Ever wonder why prescription drugs often cost more in the U.S.? A recent report sheds light:

- U.S. drug prices are nearly 3x higher than in 33 other high-income countries
- Factors include a fragmented reimbursement system and limited national pricing controls
- The U.S. relies heavily on private negotiations and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), often with limited transparency

While these factors affect pricing, understanding the system can help individuals make informed choices about their healthcare. ✅

President Donald Trump's latest bid to slash prescription drug prices has once again stirred heated debate about the high costs paid by U.S. patients.

Credit card APRs remain elevated, even after the rule that triggered the hikes was overturned.

Last year, a proposed CFPB regulation led banks to raise interest rates and impose new fees on many retail credit cards. That rule has since been struck down, but the higher rates remain.

💳 Retail card APRs are still near 30.5%, according to Bankrate
💼 Issuers like Synchrony and Bread Financial say they have no plans to reverse the increases
🛍️ Many store cards now carry interest rates 10 percentage points higher than general-purpose cards

For those who value flexibility and efficiency in managing credit, this is a reminder that terms can shift quickly, sometimes without changing back.

Retail cards hit a record high average interest rate of 30.5% last year, and rates have stayed close to those levels this year.

✈️ Flying soon? Here’s what to know about Real ID

As of May 7, new TSA rules require a Real ID-compliant license or an approved alternative to pass through airport security.

If your driver’s license doesn’t have the required star in the corner, you may need to present another accepted form of ID, like a passport, Global Entry card, or military ID. Without one, travelers could face longer security checks or be denied entry altogether.

Now’s a good time to review your documents before booking that next trip.

The TSA said that starting today, it will no longer accept driver's licenses and other forms of ID that don't comply with Real ID requirements.
