Chinstrap penguins are one of the most abundant penguin species in the world, with an estimated population of around 8 million. But here's what's really impressive: despite living in some of the most extreme conditions on the planet, including freezing Antarctic winds and unpredictable seas, they thrive because of one thing. Consistency. Same breeding grounds, same colony, same routines, season after season.

QOTW: Can I require an at-will employee to give a two weeks' notice?

🚨 ANSWER: You CANNOT require an at-will employee to give two weeks' notice.
Surprising? Maybe. But here's the truth...

At-will employment means either party can end the relationship at any time, with or without notice. If you try to require notice, you could actually put your at-will status at risk.

So what CAN you do?
✅ Request notice as a professional courtesy
✅ Explain that leaving without notice can reflect poorly on them
✅ Let them know it may be considered if they ever reapply

The key word: request, not require. The choice stays with the employee, but a little transparency goes a long way in motivating people to do the right thing.

Penguins molt once a year in what's called a "catastrophic molt." They shed and regrow all their feathers at once over just a few weeks, and during that time they can't swim or hunt. It looks rough, but it's how they come out stronger on the other side.
