A little paperwork now can save a lot of chasing later. 📝

If your business paid contractors, vendors, or service providers this year, check that you have their completed W-9s on file.

Missing one? Request it now - especially from someone you’re no longer working with.

These forms collect the name, address, and taxpayer ID needed to prepare accurate 1099s when required.

Dennis & Associates handles 1099 filings, and we’ll share more detailed guidance and deadlines in late November/early December.

A retirement savings reminder worth checking! 💰

Starting in 2026, employees age 50+ whose 2025 F**A wages from their plan sponsor exceeded $150,000 must make catch-up contributions to their 401(k), 403(b), or governmental 457(b) on a Roth (after-tax) basis.

What does that mean?
These extra contributions won’t reduce your current taxable income, but qualified withdrawals—including earnings—are tax-free in retirement.
2026 catch-up limits, if your plan allows:
• $8,000 for ages 50–59 and 64+
• $11,250 for those turning 60–63 this year
This change applies to catch-up contributions, so you may still be able to make regular contributions pre-tax.

Check with HR or your plan administrator to confirm your options—especially if your plan doesn’t offer Roth contributions.

Selling an investment property?
The time to talk taxes is before you close.

A properly structured 1031 exchange may allow you to defer capital gains taxes when exchanging qualifying investment or business real estate for another qualifying property. But the order of events matters.

One critical step: have your qualified intermediary and exchange arrangements in place before the sale closes. Taking receipt or control of the sale proceeds can disqualify the exchange, even if you plan to reinvest the money.
