Catch-up and clean-up bookkeeping may sound similar, but they solve different problems.

You need catch-up bookkeeping if your books are behind and transactions haven’t been recorded for several months or longer.

Catch-up bookkeeping can include:
- Entering missing transactions
- Catching up bank and credit card accounts
- Bringing your books completely up to date

You need clean-up bookkeeping if your transactions have been recorded, but your books contain errors or inaccurate balances.

Clean-up bookkeeping can include:
- Fixing miscategorized transactions
- Reconciling accounts
- Correcting balances and bookkeeping errors

And sometimes, your books need both a catch-up and a clean-up.

Not sure what your books need?

2027 Healthcare Open Enrollment

The 2027 open enrollment period for Marketplace health insurance began on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and runs through January 15, 2027. To obtain coverage starting January 1, 2027, you must enroll by December 15, 2026. If you enroll between December 16, 2026, and January 15, 2027, your coverage will generally begin February 1, 2027. During this period, you can enroll in, renew, or change health plans for the coming year.

Once the Open Enrollment period is over, you generally can only enroll in or change Marketplace plans if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, such as after certain qualifying life events.

Enrollment can be completed at https://www.healthcare.gov, and information on how to prepare for enrollment, including what documents you'll need, can be found here: https://www.healthcare.gov/apply-and-enroll/get-ready-to-apply/.

Accounts Receivable (A/R) is money customers owe your business for products or services you’ve already provided.

Accounts Payable (A/P) is money your business owes vendors and suppliers for bills you haven’t paid yet.

Why should you pay attention to both?

Because overdue invoices can hurt your cash flow, while unpaid bills can lead to late fees and strained vendor relationships.

Review your A/R and A/P regularly so you know what needs to be collected and what needs to be paid.

Save this post for later and follow our page for more bookkeeping, financial, and smart business tips to help you grow your business.

💜 30+ YEARS, COUNTLESS LESSONS, AND A NEW CHAPTER! 💜

I’ve been reflecting lately on where I’ve been and where I’m going.

I started my accounting business in 1995, and what a journey it’s been! There have been successes, challenges, lessons learned the hard way, and plenty of moments when I simply had to trust God and keep moving forward.

Through it all, one thing hasn’t changed. I genuinely love what I do!

I love solving problems, making sense of complicated numbers, and most importantly, helping people.

Over the years, I’ve worked with businesses in many different industries, continued my education, and earned my credentials as an Enrolled Agent, Certified Tax Resolution Consultant, and Certified Tax Planner.

But some of my greatest lessons have come from life itself.

I’ve learned that behind every business is a person with dreams, challenges, and responsibilities. And sometimes they just need someone in their corner.

That’s where I want to be.

As I move into this next chapter, I’m expanding my focus on proactive tax planning, business advisory, and financial guidance while continuing to provide bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, and IRS representation.

Whether you’re a small-business owner trying to grow, someone overwhelmed by bookkeeping, or an individual needing help with taxes, I’d love to help.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you call me. And you certainly don’t have to worry about being judged.

I’ve also learned that success isn’t always about building the biggest business or making the most money. It’s about faith, family, peace of mind, and making a difference in people’s lives.

I’m not trying to build the biggest accounting firm.

I want to be the accountant you trust, feel comfortable talking to, and know genuinely cares about your success.

I’m grateful for where God has brought me and excited about where He’s leading me next. 💜
