Big changes are coming!

After a lot of thought and reflection, I’ve decided to rebrand my bookkeeping business. This wasn’t an easy decision. I’ve poured a lot of heart into the name Walkers Bookkeeping Services LLC, and it will always hold a special place for me.

That said, growth often means change. I’ve officially received my Certificate of Assumed Name from the State of Michigan, and I’ll soon be operating under a new name that better reflects where I’m headed and the vision I have for the future.

I’m excited to share more soon. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my business along the way. Your encouragement means the world. 🙏

I believe I'm going to start a referral program.

If someone refers a client to me, that person will receive $50. I'm still debating. What do you all think?

💡 Should You Keep Business Receipts?

A question many small business owners ask, and the short answer is: yes!

It might not seem like a big deal at the moment, but keeping receipts (even for small purchases) is a smart habit that can save you big headaches later. While it’s ultimately up to you as the business owner, having proper documentation is key if the IRS (everyone's favorite) ever comes knocking. 📂💼

✨ The IRS typically wants to see three things:

- The date of the expense

- The amount spent

- The business purpose of the transaction

🧾 What counts as acceptable documentation?

- Paper or digital receipts

- Bank or credit card statements

- Invoices

- Mileage logs (apps or handwritten)

- Written records for cash expenses

🔍 Pro Tip: No receipt? A quick written note explaining what you bought, when, and why it was for business is better than nothing, especially for small cash expenses.

📱 Need help tracking everything? There are great solutions out there (like Expensify, QuickBooks, Hubdoc, etc. ) that make it super easy to stay organized.

Start the habit now, your future self (and your accountant) will thank you!

Good afternoon!

Just a quick heads-up, I’ve been getting a ton of spam calls on my business number lately. I’ll do my best to answer, but if I miss your call, I promise it’s not on purpose.

If that happens, please leave a voicemail, send a text, or message me here on Facebook. With all the spam coming through, texting or messaging me is probably the quickest way to reach me for now.

Thanks so much for understanding! 🙌

Good morning & Happy Friday, everyone! 🇺🇸

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I’m doing something special for my fellow Vets.

🗓️ Starting Monday, October 20 through November 11, any Veteran-owned business that signs up for my bookkeeping services will get their first month completely FREE.

As a Veteran myself, this means a lot to me. I met some incredible people during my time in service, and like many, I’ve lost brothers and sisters along the way... some during their time in service, and others who lost their battles at home. This is just one small way I can give back to the Veteran community that will always have my heart. ❤️🤍💙

To qualify, all I need is a quick verification of Veteran status (driver’s license with “Veteran,” Veteran ID, DD-214, etc).

Thank you for your service. 🙏
Let’s support each other, always. 💪

Please share this to anyone you know who's a veteran that owns a business and may need some bookkeeping assistance.

🐪 Hey, it’s Wednesday! You know what that means… it’s HUMP DAY! 🎉

While you’re pushing through the week, here are 5 reasons why you should hire a bookkeeper:

1️⃣ Save Time – Focus on growing your business instead of spending hours balancing numbers.

2️⃣ Stay Organized – Keep your finances clean, accurate, and ready for tax time.

3️⃣ Avoid Costly Mistakes – A bookkeeper helps catch errors early and keeps your records compliant.

4️⃣ Gain Financial Clarity – Understand where your money is going and make informed decisions.

5️⃣ Reduce Stress – No more scrambling at tax time or worrying about missing receipts.

The best part about running a bookkeeping business? The beauty standards are blissfully low. Sure, you’ve got to look presentable, but no one’s expecting a runway model, you're already pegged as the numbers nerd. The bar for appearance is basically underground. Let’s be honest, we can’t all be Henry Cavill... and luckily, we don’t have to be.

This isn't my usual type of post. Proud dad, here. My oldest daughter (9) loves to draw... she also draws the most unique and interesting pieces of art. One day it may be a cat. The next, it's this alien! Shoot, sometimes she doesn't even know!

Anyway, if you have kids, nieces/nephews, grandkids, etc., share your favorite piece(s) of art they've made in the comments. I'd love to see their artwork! My daughter may also take some inspiration from it.

Bookkeeping vs. Accounting... what’s the difference?

Bookkeepers handle the records, keeping everything organized and accurate. Accountants then step in to review that data, analyze it, and provide guidance to help your business grow.

One keeps track, the other looks ahead. Both are key to your financial success!
