Hey, I love a good tax deduction just as much or probably MORE than the next person. But you can't be stupid. The IRS has strict rules on 'Dining and Entertainment.' Since the rules are always changing, generally speaking, meals are 50% deductible. But 'entertainment expenses' (like those Phillies tickets) usually aren't deductible.

The most important rule? It must have a business purpose. If you’re taking a client to lunch, write who and why on the receipt. If you're out to dinner with a friend, spouse, relative, etc. make sure you're working business - planning, business development, prospecting, sales, or whatever. If you can’t prove it was a business related get together - then it’s just lunch.
