I just need to clear something up. The IRS tax filing statuses are: Single, Married filing jointly, Married filing separately, Head of Household and Surviving Widow with kids. Facebook notwithstanding, "It's Complicated" is NOT a filing status.

If you receive a letter from the Health Care Marketplace saying that your monthly premiums are going to go up, please do not make any decisions until you call them to confirm. I was on the phone with them for a client and after verifying income and credit information I was told that their premium would actually go down by over $100 month. Their letter had in fact estimated a $500 per month INCREASE. The Marketplace told me that the letters were generated without adequate credit and income information.

My practice is slowly morphing into a Quickbooks consulting practice. My major clients now are either those who are new to Quickbooks who pay me a couple hundred dollars to show them how to use it correctly and profitably, and those who come to me at year end an
d pay me a thousand dollars to fix things because they didn't use it correctly!
