If you’re not checking your business account because:
🔹 You’re too busy being “in” your business
🔹 You’re afraid the balance will stress you out even more
🔹 the finance side of business is an enigma to you so you avoid it

I get why guessing can feel easier than looking. But once you actually know your numbers, it is usually not as scary as you feared.

It’s kinda chic to know your numbers. 💅🏼

Not because you need to obsess over every dollar.

Because knowing what’s happening in your account can help you feel more at ease, make wiser decisions, and stop guessing about what your business can actually afford. Now, that is chic!

Need a simple 🗺️ roadmap for checking your accounts and knowing which numbers actually matter as a business owner? That’s why I created my Business 101 Crash Course - to make navigating the ins and outs of business a easier process than trying to figure it all out by yourself.

When I meet with a business owner for the first time, I’m not just listening to what feels overwhelming.

I’m listening for what is currently working, what is not working, and where we can start building a road map. 🧭

#1 What process are they using now?

This gives clarity on what they’ve already tried, what is not working for their business, and what small process changes could help.

#2 How involved do they want to be?

Some clients are looking for weekly or bi-weekly meetings.
Others just want an end-of-month recap with analysis and steps to take for the next month.

#3 Are we a good fit for each other?

Sometimes what a client is looking for does not align with our business practices.
It is better to know that upfront than to get into working together and have to end services later, which only wastes both parties’ time and resources.

One question I get asked often is: "Which service do I actually need?"

The answer depends on where your business is today.

✨Bookkeeping helps you understand your finances throughout the year.
✨Payroll ensures employees are paid correctly and payroll taxes stay on track.
✨Tax preparation pulls everything together at tax time and files your return accurately.

Some businesses need all three.

Others start with bookkeeping and tax preparation, then add payroll as they grow.
Each service has a different purpose and knowing the difference helps you choose the support your business actually needs.

Business owners, your mileage logs need dates, not just totals. 🚗

The IRS business mileage rate increased from 72.5 cents to 76 cents per mile, effective July 1, 2026.

That means mileage from June and mileage from July may need to be calculated at different rates.

If your business reimburses employees, pays contractors, or tracks owner mileage, your log should clearly show:
🔹 Date of the trip
🔹 Business purpose
🔹 Starting point and destination
🔹 Total miles driven

Example:
An employee drives 80 business miles on June 28 and 80 business miles on July 8.
Those are not reimbursed at the same IRS rate.

This is why clean mileage records matter. They help you get reimbursed correctly and avoid guessing later.

Save this post and check your mileage tracking process this week.

One of the most common habits I see with growing business owners is paying themselves whenever they need money personally.

It's understandable.

Most people start that way.

But eventually it becomes difficult to answer questions like:
• Can my business actually afford this?
• Am I setting enough aside for taxes?
• What is my actual profit?
• Is my pricing supporting the income I want?

A simple payroll system creates clarity.
It doesn't have to be complicated.
It just needs to be intentional.

If you're ready to build stronger financial systems for your business, I'd love to help.

One of my favorite things about Arizona's tax credit programs is that they give people the opportunity to support organizations they care about while reducing their Arizona state tax liability.

Instead of waiting until December, take a little time now to look through the approved organizations (free downloadable lists linked below) and think about where you'd like your donations to go this year.

We've put together free list downloads to make the process easier!

📣 Business mileage tax update

The IRS announced a mid-year increase to the business mileage rate—from 72.5¢ to 76¢, effective July 1.
That mid-year change makes your mileage records especially important. Keep a clear log separating miles driven before and after July 1 so your tax preparer has the information needed to calculate the applicable deduction.

✅ Keep a mileage log
✅ Separate mileage by date
✅ Consider a tracker like MileIQ
