MYTH: “Getting a tax refund means I paid too much in taxes.” ❌

FACT: A tax refund generally means you paid more in taxes throughout the year than you ultimately owed. Your refund is the difference between what you paid in and your actual tax liability.

💡 Tax Tip: A large refund isn’t a good or bad thing—but adjusting your withholding could potentially put more money in your paycheck throughout the year instead. It just depends on what works best for you!

Need more time to finish your tax return? You can request an extension to file, but remember: an extension gives you more time to FILE your return—it does not give you more time to PAY any taxes you owe.

💰 If you expect to owe taxes, you should estimate your tax liability and pay as much as possible by the original tax deadline to help minimize interest and potential penalties.
