🌴 **LOCAL GEM ALERT: This one really is special.** ✨

If you live in Southwest Florida and haven’t discovered the + Planetarium** yet, put it on your list.

We’ve been there for **Beautifica** by James Hood, we’ve experienced the **Pink Floyd planetarium show** 🎶🌌, and now they’re getting ready to take things in a completely different direction with a **haunted walk through the woods.** 👻🌳

And that's exactly what I love about this place.

It’s not some shiny new attraction built for tourists. It’s a longtime piece of our community where you can explore nature trails, learn about native Florida wildlife, sit under the stars in the planetarium — and apparently get scared half to death in the woods, too. 😂

Places like this are part of what gives a community its personality.

So this **Local Gem** comes with a little extra message from me:

❤️ **GO. VISIT. BUY A TICKET. TAKE THE KIDS. SEE A SHOW. SUPPORT THEM.**

Because truly special local places only stay special when the community shows up for them.

LOOKING SUCCESSFUL vs. BEING COMPETENT

When did the performance become more important than the profession?

A $1,000 suit, fancy cufflinks, and an impressive golf handicap.

Twenty years ago, that's what looking successful sometimes meant in wealth management.

Today? Apparently, all you need is AI, a private jet, and a viral video. 😂

Don't get me wrong. I love technology, creativity, and having a little fun.

But somewhere along the way, have we confused getting attention with earning trust?

My latest LinkedIn article explores AI, professional credibility, and why looking successful isn't necessarily the same as being good at your job.

Because at the end of the day, your marketing might get you noticed. Your competence is what makes you worth hiring.

But seriously, it's exciting to watch this new master-planned community come to life right here in Southwest Florida. New homes, different builders, and plenty of options to explore!

🐾 **LOCAL GEM ALERT: Coffee, cats & a really great cause.** ☕🐈

Only in Southwest Florida can you run out for a cup of coffee and potentially come home with a new family member. 😂

Meet Cattyshack Cat Cafe at **Gulf Coast Town Center** — part café, part cat lounge, and quite possibly one of the cutest local businesses around.

Grab a coffee or snack, then head into the **Mulligan Room** to spend some time with adoptable rescue cats and kittens. And yes… they're actually looking for their forever homes. ❤️🐾

The golf-themed name is pretty clever, too: a *mulligan* is a second chance — which is exactly what these cats are getting. 🏌️‍♀️🐈

You don't have to be looking to adopt, either. You can simply book some kitty time, enjoy your coffee and support a local business that's doing something pretty wonderful for rescue cats in our community.

**THIS is the kind of stuff I love finding around Southwest Florida.** 🌴

**We went from 6,000 square feet on 35 acres in Colorado to 3,200 square feet on a third of an acre in Southwest Florida.** 🌴

And you know what?

I don't miss the extra space. Not one bit.

What I *do* treasure are the 17 years of memories we made there. Our daughter was born there. Businesses came and went. Friendships were formed. And we lived a whole lot of life.

But somewhere along the way, we realized we wanted a different kind of life.

Less stuff. Less maintenance. More living.

After 20+ years in wealth management, I learned that sometimes the biggest obstacle to making a change isn't money.

**It's giving yourself permission.**

My latest LinkedIn article explores why leaving a home can be so difficult, why we sometimes cling to what we've outgrown, and why the next chapter might be even better than the last.

And yes, I managed to bring my Mammaw's chairs along for the ride. 😂

**We downsized our house. Not our life.** ❤️🌴

6,000 sq. ft. on 35 acres in Colorado.

To 3,200 sq. ft. on a third of an acre in Southwest Florida.

Seventeen years of memories. A whole lot of furniture. And one very big decision.

What did we gain?

More freedom. Less maintenance. And the opportunity to build an entirely new chapter.

Here's something I learned after two decades in wealth management:

**Sometimes you can afford the life you want. You just haven't given yourself permission to live it.**

My back has officially filed a formal complaint with management. Unfortunately, management is me, and I denied the request for a full day off.

Well, this wasn’t exactly how I planned to spend my day!

I’ve managed to hurt my back, so I’ve temporarily relocated my office to a much softer piece of real estate. 🛏️

Two laptops, a notebook, a stack of community information, and enough blankets to qualify as my own gated community. 😂

The good news? Technology is a beautiful thing, and while I may not be touring homes today, I’m still researching, answering questions, following up, and helping clients make their next move.

Because sometimes being dedicated to your clients means knowing when to put your feet up… even if your brain refuses to clock out.

The back is out of commission. The real estate business? Not so much. 🏡❤️
