🚨 Think you're being scammed? Stop before you send money.

Today's scams can be remarkably convincing—and being smart with money doesn't necessarily make someone immune.

If something doesn't feel right:

🛑 STOP — Don't send more money.
📞 CALL — Talk to someone you trust.
🔍 VERIFY — Contact the person or organization independently.
🏦 CONTACT — If money already moved, contact the financial institution involved.
📋 DOCUMENT — Save texts, emails and transaction information.
🔐 PROTECT — Secure potentially compromised accounts.

And here's something that's especially important:

If you've already lost money, be extremely cautious of anyone promising to recover it for a fee.

You could be dealing with another scam.

We've put together a guide explaining what to consider before—and after—financial fraud.

You're 55. Have you saved enough for retirement? 🤔

It's a question that can become a lot more urgent as retirement gets closer.

But comparing your account balance to a national average may not tell you whether you're actually prepared.

Your retirement picture can depend on:

💰 What you've saved
🏦 Social Security and pension income
🏠 Debt
🩺 Healthcare costs
📊 Your investments
💵 Expected retirement spending
📅 When you plan to retire

Two people can have exactly the same amount saved and be in completely different financial situations.

So instead of only asking:

“How much should I have saved?”

Consider asking:

“What does my money need to accomplish?”

We break down what to review during your final working years in our latest blog.

💰 Does getting married make you wealthier?

The numbers might make you think so.

Federal Reserve data cited by Investopedia shows median net worth of approximately:

💍 $316,000 — partnered households
👤 $74,000 — single households

That's a BIG difference.

But relationship status isn't the whole explanation.

Age, income, shared household expenses, homeownership, children, saving habits and other factors can all influence net worth.

And being single doesn't mean you're destined to fall behind financially.

The more useful question may be:

Is your financial plan designed for the household you actually have?

We took a closer look at what the numbers show—and what singles, couples and parents may want to consider.

🏢 If your business is part of your retirement plan, how confident are you in what it’s actually worth?

Business owners often hear valuation discussed as a formula:

EBITDA × a multiple = business value

But prospective buyers may look well beyond earnings.

They may consider:

✓ How predictable is the revenue?
✓ Is the company dependent on a few customers?
✓ Are earnings sustainable?
✓ Does profit turn into cash?
✓ Can the company operate without the owner?
✓ Is there a strong management team?
✓ How reliable are the financial records?

And there’s another important distinction:

What your business is valued at and what you ultimately have available for retirement may be two very different numbers.

Our latest article explores seven factors that may affect how a buyer evaluates a business—and why business valuation deserves a place in your personal financial planning long before you’re ready to sell.

If you stepped away tomorrow, how much of your business could operate without you?

🤖 Have you asked AI a question about your retirement yet?

Maybe you've asked:

💰 Do I have enough to retire?
📅 When should I claim Social Security?
🔄 Should I consider a Roth conversion?
📈 Am I taking too much investment risk?
💵 How much cash should I keep?

AI can be an incredibly useful tool for learning about financial topics and exploring different possibilities.

But there's an important distinction:

Getting an answer isn't the same as having a financial plan.

Retirement decisions can involve taxes, Social Security, Medicare, investments, income needs, family circumstances, risk tolerance and personal goals—and changing one piece can affect another.

Our newest article looks at how AI can help with retirement planning, where its limitations may matter, and how to ask better questions before making an important financial decision.

📅 Your 2026 tax bill isn't just an April problem.

For small business owners, some tax-planning decisions may need attention before December 31—not when you're preparing your return next spring.

Now may be a good time to review:

💰 Estimated tax payments
📊 Business income projections
🏦 Retirement-plan options
💼 Owner compensation and payroll
🧾 Business expenses and documentation
❤️ Charitable-giving plans
💵 Business cash reserves
🔄 Business structure and tax classification

But there's an important distinction:

A tax deduction doesn't automatically make something a good financial decision.

Year-end planning should consider your taxes and your business cash flow, retirement goals and broader financial picture.

We've put together a 2026 year-end planning guide and checklist for small business owners.
