Public Act 104-0468 creates a State sales tax holiday on qualifying items effective August 7, 2026, through August 16, 2026.

• Business: 76¢ per mile
• Medical & Moving: 23.5¢ per mile
• Charitable: 14¢ per mile (no change)

Illinois Sales Tax Update – Effective January 1, 2026

If you do business in the following areas, please note the updated sales tax rates for general merchandise:

📍 Mattoon (Coles County): 7.75%
📍 Effingham (Effingham County): 7.50%

Be sure your POS systems, invoices, and bookkeeping reflect the correct rate as of 1/1/26.
