I’m always excited for tax season to start but I’m more excited for it to end. Happy April 16th to my office. Thank you to everyone for being patient this year. I was very behind schedule this year so I will not be taking new clients this year. My office has a waiting list if you’d like to be on it.

I learned something new today...The US Postal Service made a change Christmas Eve. Dropped off mail will receive a 'postmark date' when the first automated processing operation is performed on that piece of mail. They believe it will be a 1-2 day delay from dropoff. If you need a postmark date the day you drop it off, you must bring it to the counter and ask for it to be postmarked for that day.

We will be closed Thursday for New Year's Day. Monday- Wednesday this week is my son's Holiday basketball tournament so I will be in and out of the office. I won't be in the office most of Tuesday and Wednesday but Jennifer will be here.

Beware of SCAMS. I received an email just now from QuIckbooks. See how the I is capitalized? They always change it just a little, but not very noticeable. It looks very real and it's very easy to click the link and confirm my clients bank account information......but I didn't.

IL sales tax rates increase for some in 2026 (locations close to Effingham):
Effingham from 6.5% to 7.5%
Toledo from 7.75% to 8.25%
Vandalia (new business district) from 7.75% to 8.75%
