One thing I've noticed after working with business owners for 20+ years:⁣

Many think they have a tax problem.⁣

But they have more of a clarity problem.⁣

Revenue is growing.⁣

Money is moving through the business.⁣

But they're not always sure:⁣

• What's actually profit?⁣
• How much should be set aside for taxes?⁣
• How much can be paid to themselves?⁣
• Whether growth is helping or hurting cash flow.⁣

That's where I spend a good share of my time helping owners.⁣

The tax strategy is important.⁣

But clarity comes first.⁣

I spent the weekend in McCall, and it's funny how getting away from the day-to-day can help you see things more clearly.⁣

What's one thing you do when you need to step back and gain perspective?⁣

I think one of the biggest challenges for PT clinic owners isn't getting the numbers.⁣

It's knowing which numbers actually matter for the decision you're trying to make.⁣

I've seen owners track dozens of metrics and still feel stuck.⁣

What's the one financial question you're trying to answer in your clinic right now?

A lot of PT owners think:⁣

“Once I hit the next revenue level, things will finally feel stable.”⁣

But what I see behind the scenes is that many clinic owners are growing revenue faster than they’re growing financial visibility.⁣

They don’t fully know:⁣

• which services are actually producing margin⁣
• how much cash the business truly needs⁣
• whether payroll is healthy⁣
• how much they can safely take home⁣
• or why taxes always feel reactive⁣

And that creates a weird tension where the business looks successful from the outside… but still feels stressful internally.⁣

The PT owners who scale best usually aren’t the ones hustling the hardest.⁣

They’re the ones who build financial clarity early.⁣

Because clarity changes decision-making.⁣

It changes hiring.⁣

It changes compensation.⁣

It changes growth.⁣

And honestly, it changes stress levels too.⁣

That’s why I think tax planning is only one piece of the puzzle.⁣

Good numbers should help you lead the business with more confidence, not more confusion.

Most PT owners don’t need more hustle.⁣
They need more financial clarity.⁣

Because when you finally understand:⁣
• where cash is leaking⁣
• what’s driving margin⁣
• and how your business is actually performing⁣

growth feels a whole lot less stressful.

This wasn’t a surprise tax bill… it was an unplanned system.⁣

If your April payment felt higher than expected,⁣
it usually wasn’t just one thing.⁣

Here’s what was actually happening:⁣

You likely had:⁣

your prior year tax (paid with an extension or when you filed)⁣
and your current year Q1 estimate⁣

Both hitting around the same time.⁣

So it feels like one big number…⁣

when it’s really the result of how taxes were handled across the year.⁣

At lower income levels, you can get away with reacting.⁣

At $500K–$1M+, that starts to break.⁣

Because now:⁣

income is higher⁣
tax exposure is higher⁣
and timing matters more⁣

Without a system:⁣

nothing is set aside intentionally⁣
nothing is planned ahead⁣
and nothing is aligned with how your business actually operates⁣

So everything shows up at once.⁣

And that’s when it feels bigger than it should.⁣

Not because it’s random—⁣

but because there was no structure behind it.⁣

Most PT owners experience taxes as a once-a-year event.⁣

But at this level, it has to become a year-round flow.⁣

If you’ve ever had that “where did all of that come from?” moment in April,⁣
that’s usually where the gap shows up.⁣

And it’s fixable.⁣

That’s exactly what I walk through in a Profit + Purpose Planning Session.

Most PT owners don’t actually have a clear system for paying themselves.⁣

It usually ends up being…⁣
whatever is left over after expenses.⁣

Which works—until it doesn’t.⁣

Quick question:⁣
Are you paying yourself a set salary… or just taking what’s left over?

I was reviewing numbers for a PT owner recently, and on the surface, everything looked solid.⁣

Revenue was up.⁣
The clinic was busy.⁣
The team was growing.⁣

But when we looked closer…⁣
their actual take-home hadn’t improved much at all.⁣

And that’s the part no one talks about.⁣

Because from the outside, growth looks like successs. But underneath, the structure often hasn’t caught up yet.⁣

So the extra revenue gets absorbed by:⁣

Higher payroll⁣
Inefficient compensation⁣
Taxes that were never planned for⁣
Decisions made without a clear financial lens⁣

And suddenly, you’re working harder, managing more people…⁣
but not actually keeping more.⁣

Let me ask you this:⁣

Do you know:⁣

What your clinic is truly producing for you?⁣
How much of your revenue is actually turning into usable cash?⁣
Whether your current structure can support more growth?⁣

Many PT owners I talk to don’t because no one ever helped them connect the numbers to the decisions.⁣

Growth doesn’t fix this.⁣

Structure does.⁣

And if the structure isn’t there first,⁣
growth usually just magnifies the gaps.

You’ve built a successful practice.⁣⁣Revenue is strong.⁣Patients are coming in.⁣The business is growing.⁣⁣But behind the...

You’ve built a successful practice.⁣

Revenue is strong.⁣
Patients are coming in.⁣
The business is growing.⁣

But behind the scenes… something still feels off.⁣

Your numbers don’t give you confidence.⁣
Your cash doesn’t quite match your profit.⁣
Your tax bill still surprises you.⁣

And when it’s time to make a decision like hiring, expanding, paying yourself then you hesitate more than you should.⁣

So you do what most owners do:⁣

You focus on growth.⁣

More patients.⁣
More locations.⁣
More revenue.⁣

But growth hasn’t solved it.⁣

Because the issue isn’t how much you make.⁣

It’s how your business is structured.⁣
How your profit actually flows.⁣
And whether your decisions are truly connected to your numbers.⁣

Without that…⁣

Growth doesn’t fix the problem.⁣
It magnifies it.⁣

More revenue.⁣
More expenses.⁣
More taxes.⁣
More pressure.⁣

And still no clear answer to one simple question:⁣

“What do I actually get to keep?”⁣

Most PT owners don’t need another tax tip.⁣

They need clarity.⁣
They need structure.⁣
They need a system that connects profit, taxes, and decisions together.⁣

Because once that’s in place…⁣

Everything changes.

04/03/2026

If your estimated taxes feel unclear…⁣
your business is too.⁣

This isn’t a tax problem.⁣
It’s a clarity problem.⁣

…April Fools 😅⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But there is a way to stop overpaying.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Most PT owners aren’t paying too much because of bad luck.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
They’re paying too much because:⁣⁣
– their structure isn’t optimized⁣⁣
– their profit isn’t clear⁣⁣
– and their strategy starts too late⁣⁣
⁣⁣
(And no—this isn’t about chasing zero. It’s about being intentional.)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That part’s not a joke.
