I have been a busy bee these last few months!!

After launching Prairie Ledger earlier this year, I spent the first few weeks hitting social media really hard and that word got around quick!! But I want to apologize for being somewhat silent on socials lately.. between meeting new faces, working on financials, and just being a family woman, advertising is always a struggle for any small business because you’re wearing so many hats. You’re the advertiser, receptionist, manager, owner and everything in between!

With that being said, I’m down to filling my last TWO spots! I offer back office support such as handling paying the bills and organizing your receipts for year end taxes. I also handle full cycle accounting, with a specialty in small businesses. I can also create financials for your lender or even personal financials for more organized home management.

I have been co-owning Elite Automotive for the last 4 years who has been in business for the last 9 years. I was the director of accounting in the healthcare industry before that with 13 years of corporate accounting experience in total.

I have been sharing office space with Kyle Orr’s Elite Automotive and Diesel for almost 4 years now and recently, my office along with Elites front office and break room are up for lease!

I will still be operating out of the same building, I will just be building a newer office on the opposite end.

The space will include:
- 1,400 sq ft office/retail/flex space
- Private entry with private gravel parking (automotive parking is on the opposite end of property)
- Pass through utilities
- Property Maintenance
- Located in Basehor, KS
- Ideal for contractor, construction, service based, etc.

One thing I’ve learned while building Prairie Ledger Bookkeeping is that not every business fits into a “standard” bookkeeping package — especially startups and micro businesses.

Recently, I had a prospective client reach out and we went through the entire discovery process, only for both of us to realize my original packages simply were not startup or micro-business friendly. That conversation stuck with me.

Tax Tip of the Week

I get this question a lot, so here’s a simple way to think about it:

Your business has three different “versions” of profit, and they don’t always match — and that’s actually normal.

Profit & Loss (P&L):
This shows how your business is performing. It’s your income minus expenses — basically, “did I make money this month?”

Tax Return Profit:
This is what you’re taxed on. The IRS has its own rules, so your CPA may adjust things to lower your taxable income. That’s why this number can look different from your P&L.

Cash Flow:
This is the actual money moving in and out of your bank account. Because you can be “profitable” on paper and still feel tight on cash (we’ve all been there).

Now here’s where it all comes together—

When you go to a bank for a loan, they don’t just look at one number. They look at all three to understand the full picture:
Are you profitable?
Do you actually have cash coming in?
Can you afford to pay them back?

And behind the scenes:
Your bookkeeper is keeping everything accurate and current,
so your CPA can plan ahead and make smart tax decisions.

So if your numbers don’t match perfectly, it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong — but it’s definitely something you should understand.
