10/27/2026
🚨 2027 STARTS BEFORE JANUARY 1. 💚
Business owners, we're entering the final two months of 2026.
Some tax planning opportunities won't be available once the year closes.
💚 Before December 31, review:
🟩 Year-to-date profits and projected tax liability.
🟩 Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
🟩 S corporation reasonable compensation, distributions, and shareholder basis.
🟩 Equipment purchases, depreciation, and available tax strategies.
🟩 Contractor W-9s and estimated tax payments.
📅 Important 2027 Tax Deadlines
January 15 (Friday): Fourth-quarter 2026 federal estimated income tax payments generally due for individuals.
February 1 (Monday): 2026 Forms W-2, applicable 1099-NECs, fourth-quarter Form 941, and annual Form 940, where required.
February 10 (Wednesday): Later filing deadline for Forms 941 and 940 for qualifying employers that made all required tax deposits on time.
💚 Tax Preparation and Tax Planning are not the same thing.
Tax preparation reports what happened.
Tax planning helps you make informed decisions while there's still time to act.
Waiting until February or March to evaluate your 2026 tax position may mean missing opportunities that required action before December 31.
At James Wilder & Associates LLC, we help business owners understand their numbers, evaluate tax strategies, and prepare for what's ahead.
