⚠️ New York Business Owners: Are You Ready for Secure Choice?
If your business:
✅ Has been operating for at least 2 years
✅ Employs 10 or more employees in New York State
✅ Does not currently offer a qualified retirement plan
you may be required to comply with the New York Secure Choice Savings Program.
Business owners generally have two options:
• Facilitate the New York Secure Choice program, or
• Establish a qualified retirement plan, such as a 401(k), SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, or other eligible plan.
Noncompliance may result in monetary penalties, so it's important to understand your obligations and available options.
Before defaulting into the state program, many employers choose to evaluate whether a company-sponsored retirement plan may better support their business objectives, employee retention efforts, and retirement planning goals.
