Juneteenth commemorates a pivotal moment in history when enslaved Black Americans in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after freedom had been declared.

Today, we stand with the Black American community in honouring the resilience of those who endured, the generations who continued the fight for justice, and the lasting contributions of Black Americans who have helped shape our world.

As we reflect on the significance of this day, we're reminded that progress is not a moment. It is something we continue to build, protect, and carry forward together.

Wishing everyone a meaningful Juneteenth weekend.

A Black professional joins the insurance industry.

They're ambitious. Capable. Consistently delivering.

Years later, they're still being told to "be more visible."

Still waiting for the opportunities that seem to find everyone else.

Still wondering why they're one of the few people who look like them in leadership meetings.

For many Black professionals, career progression isn't just about performance.

It's about access. Access to sponsors. Access to influential networks. Access to the conversations happening when you're not in the room.

And while the insurance industry has made progress, representation at senior levels tells us there's still work to do.

That's why we're hosting Insurance Unfiltered: Real Stories and Bold Career Strategies with Beazley.

A conversation about careers.

The careers shaped by missed opportunities, breakthrough moments, difficult decisions, and leaders who found ways to succeed in spaces that weren't always built with them in mind.

If you've ever questioned whether you're the only one navigating these challenges, this conversation is for you.

In 2026, the biggest career risk isn't getting fired. It's becoming irrelevant.

We recently hosted a panel with leaders from Intact Insurance and one message came through loud and clear:

The people winning the next decade aren't climbing ladders, they're building jungle gyms, moving sideways, experimenting and reinventing themselves before they're forced to.

Here's a recap of the powerful conversation with senior leaders from Intact Insurance:

✅ Your job title is not your value. Your transferable skills are.

Can you influence stakeholders? Navigate uncertainty? Solve messy problems? Lead without authority?

Those skills travel. Titles don't.

✅Treat large companies like a paid training ground.

Most employees see bureaucracy. Top performers see opportunity. ERGs, Secondments, cross-functional projects, internal mentorship.

The smartest people are learning new skills on someone else's budget.

✅Run toward the chaos. That's where opportunity lives.

Climate risk. Cybersecurity. AI. Data.

The fastest growing careers are being built where industries are changing the fastest.

Don't avoid disruption. Position yourself inside it.

✅Stop acting like a corporate robot.

Being polished isn't the same as being memorable. The more AI-generated everything becomes, the more valuable genuine human personality becomes.

People trust people. Not perfectly rehearsed corporate avatars.

✅Closed mouths don't get promoted.

Want a new role? Say it.
Want a stretch assignment? Ask for it.
Want to pivot your career? Tell people.

Visibility is not arrogance. It's strategy. The future doesn't belong to people with perfect resumes. It belongs to people who can adapt. Pivot. Learn and reinvent themselves repeatedly.

We don't need a workforce of rigid, predictable resumes. We need non linear thinkers who know how to evolve.

So here's the question: Are you still climbing a ladder or are you designing your own career?

Knowing you want more from your career and knowing how to get there are two very different things.

Maybe you're applying for roles and hearing nothing back. Maybe you're preparing for interviews but not getting the outcome you want.

Maybe you're wondering how to build the right network, gain visibility, or stand out in a competitive market.

The truth is, talent alone isn't always enough.

You need to know how to position yourself.

How to communicate your value.

How to build meaningful professional relationships.

How to navigate opportunities when they show up.

That's why we created the Career Ready Accelerator.

A 6-week experience designed to help you take control of your career with confidence.

Over six weeks, you'll learn how to:

✅Build a CV and LinkedIn profile that attract opportunities
✅Master interviews and networking conversations
✅Communicate with confidence in professional environments
✅Navigate your first 180 days in a new role
✅Use AI tools to work smarter and stand out
✅Position yourself for long term growth, retention and promotion

But this isn't just about learning.

It's about doing.

You'll gain access to mentors, practical workshops, peer support and a community that helps turn knowledge into action.

So before applications open, we'd love to know:

What's the biggest challenge standing between you and your next career move?

A surprising number of goals never fail.

They simply never move beyond intention.

Ideas stay in our heads.
Plans remain unwritten.
Tasks live in memory instead of somewhere visible.

The challenge is that what stays in our heads competes with everything else demanding our attention.

Writing something down does not guarantee it will happen.

But it does make it harder to forget, easier to revisit, and more likely to become action.

Sometimes the first step towards progress is not doing more.

It is making the commitment visible.

This week, write it down.

For many Black professionals, career progression isn't just about performance.

It's about navigating unspoken rules, managing perceptions, balancing authenticity with expectation, and finding the confidence to pursue opportunities before anyone tells you you're ready.

Too often, conversations about career growth focus on polished success stories. But the realities are rarely that simple.

Behind promotions, leadership roles, and career breakthroughs are stories of self doubt, missed opportunities, difficult decisions, sponsorship, resilience, and the courage to keep showing up in spaces where representation remains limited.

Join us for a candid conversation exploring the realities of building a career while Black in corporate environments. Let's unpack:

✅ Building influence when you're overlooked or underestimated
✅ Navigating workplace culture without losing yourself
✅ The power of sponsorship, networks, and strategic visibility
✅ Turning setbacks, rejection, and bias into fuel for growth
✅ What successful Black leaders wish they knew sooner

This isn't a conversation about having all the answers.

It's about sharing the truths, lessons, and experiences that help us move forward with greater confidence, intention, and impact.

The most important skill you use this week may not be the one you planned to use.

No matter how well we prepare, not every week unfolds exactly as expected.

Priorities change.

Unexpected challenges arise.

New opportunities appear.

And sometimes the path forward looks different from the one we originally mapped out.

In those moments, adaptability becomes more than a soft skill.

It becomes the ability to adjust without losing momentum, respond without overreacting, and stay focused on what matters most.

The goal is not to predict every change.

It is to respond well when change arrives.
