We offer a wide range of services for small to medium sized family businesses. This part of the business cycle can be very difficult and stressful for new clients and we provide constant assistance and back-up to allow the business to develop. All aspects of the new business are covered from liaising with banks and financiers to covering all statutory and revenue compliance work. CFW’s turnaround of work is geared to clients needs. Substantial investment in I.T. permits not only accurate and professional accounts to be provided to clients, but assists us in remaining cost effective to our clients. We have been established for over 25 years and we pride ourselves on providing both a professional and personal service to deliver the right solutions for your business. CFW has five partners and over 15 staff with many years experience in a wide range of business sectors and also has specialist knowledge in many areas. Meet the Team: Kim Parry BA (Hons) FCCA ACA – Partner

Kim began her career in accountancy after graduating with a degree in Accountancy and Management. She qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2007 and became a Fellow in 2012. Kim joined CFW in 2007, after rising through the ranks, Kim became an Associate Partner in 2013 and Partner in 2019.

With a background in family business, Kim brings real insight into the challenges business owners face. She specialises in company formations, start-ups, and trust taxation – helping clients lay strong financial foundations.

Outside work, Kim enjoys days out with her family, gardening, socialising, and cheering on the Saints. She’s also actively involved in her local Rotary club, and has recently been made President, the first female in the role in the club’s history.

Earlier this month we held our Autumn social.

We stepped away from the office for a brilliant afternoon of virtual-reality team challenges at Odyssey VR in Corby.

Working together, we protected an enchanted tree from goblins 👺, ran a busy burger kitchen 🍔 and survived a zombie attack 🧟‍♀️— well, some of us did! 🤣

It was a fantastic afternoon and a great opportunity for everyone to relax, have fun and enjoy some time together away from the office.

Certain landlords and self-employed individuals should start preparing now for the next phase of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.

Taxpayers with qualifying income above £30,000 in the 2025/26 tax year will be required to join MTD from 6 April 2027. Qualifying income includes gross income from property lettings and self-employment before expenses are deducted.

Early preparation will make the transition much smoother and help avoid compliance issues when MTD becomes mandatory in April 2027.

Important Changes from Companies House

Companies House has changed its login process, with users now moving to GOV.UK One Login to access its online services.

There is also an important change coming from December 2026. Any objections to a limited company being struck off the register must be made through Companies House’ ‘Make an objection’ online service.

A business can normally only reclaim VAT on the purchase of a car if the car is not available for any private use whatsoever. This is a very strict test. Typically, the business must be able to demonstrate that private use is prohibited and impossible in practice.

Examples where VAT recovery may be allowed are set out in HMRC guidance and The Value Added Tax (Input Tax) Order 1992 and include:
- A car used exclusively as a taxi.
- A driving school vehicle with dual controls.
- A car acquired solely for resale by a motor dealer.
- A car held for short-term hire.
- A company car kept permanently on business premises and not available for private use.

In most owner-managed businesses, VAT on the purchase of a company car cannot be reclaimed because the vehicle is available for private use, even if actual private use is minimal.

Big changes to the Apprenticeship Levy

The Apprenticeship Levy has undergone its biggest overhaul since its introduction, with changes taking effect from 1 August 2026.

The new Growth and Skills Levy gives levy-paying employers greater flexibility over how their funds can be used, but there are also tighter funding rules to be aware of.
One important change is that new levy funds must now be used within 12 months, rather than 24 months.

This week we all came together to raise funds for Cransley Hospice, our local hospice as part of their GO GREEN For Cransely Hospice Trust. We held a bake sale and raised £300. As you can see there was a delicious selection of sweet and savoury treats on offer.
