If you think you're having a bad day........

One of our clients received a late filing penalty from HMRC for their tax return, that we submitted in plenty of time for them.
So, of course we pop onto HMRC online chat to get this sorted for them......
Only to be told by the HMRC adviser that they are only just processing requests received on the 4th August 2025 and that we should expect a reply by the 4th December 2026.

Yes, you read that right, they are only just processing the 4th August, and yet they have sent a late filing notice for 31st January 2026, despite not actually processing that date. AND, they will not reply to this until December.

To top it off, when we stated it was appalling to do this, and challenged the fact the adviser was not going to do anything, the adviser simply left the chat.

Yet another complaint submitted to HMRC!

📍Companies House Issue

As you may be aware, Companies House have sent out an official email regarding an issue with their WebFiling Service.

Please be aware that that scammers are taking advantage of this and are calling people posing as "the bank" , the scams are scarily clever and now know a lot of details including, name, address, date of birth, what bank accounts you may have open etc.

If you do receive a call like this, please be aware and do not disclose any information or be coerced into sending any money. Please contact your bank directly to ensure you are not being scammed.

One of our clients has been affected by this.

Please be vigilant.

Companies House have sent out an official email, if you do need a copy of this please let us know.

Update: for those looking at adding air conditioning to their residential properties, if it is a heating unit as well, then you can get it with no VAT on before this scheme ends in April 2027.

As some of you know, we're looking at splitting our ground floor into several rooms that can be rented out on a monthly basis at a reasonable rate.
At the moment though, it remains the one room, the tape on the floor is the ideas we have for splitting it up, with facilities such as separate storage room, bathroom and air con.
We're playing around with ideas so wondered whether to leave it as the one room, or split into several?
Would there be use for the full room or smaller rooms? What do you think?
