📅 Making Tax Digital reminder

If you're self-employed or a landlord earning over £50,000, your first quarterly MTD for Income Tax submission is due on 7 August 2026, covering the 6th April - 5th July 2026 period.

While that might sound a long way off, now is the perfect time to make sure your bookkeeping is up to date and your software is working as it should.

The move from annual Self Assessment reporting to quarterly updates is one of the biggest changes to the tax system in recent years. Getting organised now will make those first submissions much smoother.

One of the biggest shifts under MTD IT is the move away from annual bookkeeping habits.

Quarterly reporting means waiting until year-end is no longer realistic. Keeping records updated monthly (or even weekly) makes submissions far less stressful and gives you a much clearer picture of your finances throughout the year.

Good habits now will make future quarters significantly easier.
