Truck hijackings and cargo theft remain a growing concern across South Africa as indicated in an article from FleetWatch.

An estimated 30 to 35 truck hijackings take place every week, with business-owned and logistics vehicles being the primary targets.

The highest risk areas continue to be Gauteng, key routes in KwaZulu-Natal, and major corridors through Mpumalanga and the Free State, with increasing activity now also being seen in the Western Cape.

What makes this even more concerning is how organised these incidents have become. From spotters at depots and truck stops, to vehicles being followed from loading points, and even blue-light impersonation.
