This year marks 50 years since the Soweto Uprising of 16 June 1976, a defining moment in our nation's history that demonstrated the courage, resilience and determination of young people in the fight for freedom and equality.
As we remember the youth who stood up and made their voices heard, we honour their legacy and the lasting impact they have had on shaping the South Africa we know today.
Youth Day is both a time of remembrance and a celebration of the passion, potential and strength of young people across our country. Their energy, ideas and leadership continue to shape our future and inspire generations to come.
On this significant milestone, we pay tribute to the youth of 1976 and celebrate the youth of today.
Happy Youth Day, South Africa. 🇿🇦✊
