SARS has confirmed that the 2024 tax rates will apply to any two-pot withdrawal claims processed before the revised Budget announcement, today (12 March). They will determine the tax payable based on the higher of either the declared income or their available records.

If tax changes are introduced in the Budget, they will be applied retrospectively from 1 March. This means there could be cases where a member underpays tax or overpays PAYE. Let's keep this in mind when advising clients on withdrawals during this period.
