SARS Tax Season is here!

If you see a MINUS (-) in front of the amount on your assessment, it means SARS owes you money (provided everything is in order).

If you see an amount WITHOUT a minus, it means you owe SARS that amount.

Before you submit a tax return, please wait!

The auto-assessment period runs from 1 July to 13 July. Although some taxpayers have already started receiving their auto-assessments, many people will only receive theirs during this period.

If you are auto-assessed and everything on your assessment is correct (your income, deductions, banking details, etc.), you don't need to do anything. SARS will process it automatically. And it will take 72 hours!

You only need to take action if something is incorrect or missing, for example, if your banking details need updating or your income or deductions haven't been captured correctly.

A little patience can save you unnecessary stress. 😊 If you're due for an auto-assessment, let SARS complete the process before taking any action.
