I am running for Selectman in Wolfeboro. Volunteering and being employed at Carpenter School for over a dozen years has allowed me to meet many Wolfeboro residents. I am ready to serve their needs and continue giving back to our community. A Selectman is a public servant. As such, I will be available to all Wolfeboro residents. I will talk with anyone and listen to everyone. I will always reply to
emails and phone calls. I will manage local issues to the benefit of our town’s residents. I will give equal attention to all voices and anyone’s concerns. I promise to truly serve the people. I have experience in local government. Fresh out of college, I was elected and served as a Town Meeting Representative. I learned how valuable community service is. When my children reached school age, I co-chaired a committee to institute public kindergarten in the Sanborn Regional School District. Though my children never received the benefit of public kindergarten, I made sure other children would. I was on the committee to build a new High School in the Sanborn Regional School District. We came in under budget. I volunteered on the Zoning Board and at the local elementary school in Newton, NH too. My wife Jane and I happily made the choice to raise our family in Wolfeboro. It was the best decision we ever made. We have a long history in the area. In 2005, Tuftonboro was performing a real estate assessment and taxes increased quite a bit. There were many concerned residents. Some saw their taxes double overnight. This issue convinced me to collect signatures and file as the lead petitioner to the New Hampshire Department of Revenue for a review and potential reassessment. Discrepancies were found and abatements in the millions were issued to Tuftonboro homeowners. I did not file for my own abatement, although before I filed the petition, I was offered an abatement on my taxes that I declined. I work at Carpenter School because I love the school and our community. I am foremost a Cost-Analyst at a defense contracting company. I monitor and manage spending. I am trained to be fiscally responsible. Every penny matters! Every cent needs to be accounted for and spent on value-add initiatives. As a Selectman, I will work with the Budget Committee to create responsible budgets. We will arrive at financially responsible solutions. It is necessary and possible to maintain and improve Wolfeboro without placing undue burden on our residents. If elected, I will strive to be the most fiscally responsible member of our Board of Selectmen. Many families cannot afford tax-hikes during the pandemic. We need local leaders who understand this and will promote fiscal restraint. I hope to earn your vote so we can better manage local spending and defend families from higher taxes. I humbly ask for your vote on March 9th. I can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/briandeshaieswolfeboro or email at [email protected]. Thank you. Sincerely,
