I need help! I'd like to hire someone experienced with tax preparation and/or bookkeeping, but I'm willing to train the right person. I'm currently expanding my office and would like to start interviewing after Christmas. Start Date would be in January. Location is 310 State Highway 124 in Winnie.

The right person is someone who will pass a background check, is bondable, is honest & reliable, is not a gossip and understands the importance of client confidentiality!

Responsibilities include data entry, answering phones, bookkeping, making bank deposits, filing, typical office support functions.

Pay will start at $15/hour if youre inexperienced and goes up from there. I can't always guarantee 40 hours a week, but during tax season we'll work a lot of hours!

If interested send your resume to [email protected] & please include references.

Thank you

Self Employed/1099-NEC - DONT FORGET TO CLAIM EXPENSES!

If you simply enter 1099NEC income on your tax return without claiming expenses, you're overpaying not only income tax, but self-employment tax also.

You should use form SCHEDULE C on your 1040 to report income & expenses generated from self-employment. (There will be additional forms depending on the type of expenses you claim)

Common Tax Return E-File Rejection Reasons

1. IP PIN Missing (identity protection PIN) - if you enrolled in the IP PIN program, the IRS issues you a new one to use each year. It's a 6 digit PIN & is mailed each year by early January. You can retrieve a lost IP PIN by calling the IRS 800-908-4490 or by accessing your online account at irs.gov

2. 1095-A Missing - if you purchased health insurance from the marketplace using the Premium Tax Credit, you will be issued a 1095-A & it must be reported on your return. You can retrieve a 1095-A by calling the marketplace or accessing your online account at healthcare.gov

3. Identifying Information Mismatch - if your name and/or social security number don't match IRS records, they'll reject it. Check your return carefully before it's filed.

4. SSN used to file a return already - Your information or a dependent's information was used in another return. Unfortunately, you'll have to paper file your return.

Jan. 31 due date to issue 1099-NEC/MISC forms

If you are self employed or own a business and paid someone $600 or more in 2024 with cash, check or ach to provide a service (contract labor, subcontractors, etc) - you are supposed to issue them a 1099 by 1/31. If you paid with a 3rd party such as a credit card processor, cashapp, venmo, etc then the 3rd party will issue them a 1099K.

If filing more than 10 1099 forms, they must be e-filed with the IRS.

There's still a few days left before the deadline, get with me ASAP if you need help filing 1099s.

Call or text 409-934-4743, email [email protected] or message me on Facebook. - Alison

TAX TIP: Check for 1099-K !!!!!

Check your Square, Venmo, Cashapp, Amazon, Shopify, Quickbooks & other merchant accounts to see if they issued you a 1099-K. They don't always mail them out.

The threshold was lowered to $5,000 a year - used to be $20,000.

If you don't account for these in your tax return, you're setting yourself up for problems with the IRS in the future that include costly penalties & interest, not to mention additional tax liability.

I haven't had time to post in a while, but I'm getting a lot of questions regarding the BOIR (Beneficial Ownership Information Report).

In a nutshell - the BOIR is a requirement for businesses to disclose who owns/controls them. It's a simple report that requires an identity document (driver license, passport, etc), address & SSN/EIN of every owner. This information is reported to FinCEN.

The BOIR requirement has been challenged in court & there was an injunction, then it was stayed, then the injunction was reinstated on 12/26.

As of right now, the BOIR is voluntary pending the outcome of the court case and any further rulings.

Here is a link for more information: https://boiefiling.fincen.gov/boir/html

Also - please don't let someone charge you a ridiculous amount of money to file the BOIR for you. You can do it yourself or hire someone who will charge you a reasonable price.

I have been so busy and haven't had time to post, but wanted to remind everyone - we're halfway through the year...this is a great time to check your tax situation. Should you be paying quarterly estimated taxes? Have you had too much/little withheld from your paychecks?

Business owners - now's a great time to get your books in order, generate financial statements & see what tax time might have in store for you. Don't wait until December, there's no time to make any adjustments then.

Talk about outrageous tax preparation & garbage fees! OVER $1,000!!! This is why I don't offer bank products, I buy my software direct (no service bureau), & I could not in good conscience charge someone outrageous fees like this. I probably undercharge, but I enjoy helping people & I truly love what I do.

If you need tax preparation and/or bookkeeping, please feel free to call or text 409-934-4743, email [email protected] or message me on Facebook.
