Nearly all businesses that are registered as LLC's, S Corps, C Corps and Partnerships are required to file a Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR) by no later than January 1, 2025. There are a few exceptions for financial institutions, insurance companies, most non-profits and a few others, but most registered businesses will be affected. If these reports are not filed, beginning January 2, 2025 penalties of $591 per day will begin to accumulate with a possibility of up to 2 years in jail for non-compliance.
