The Department of Energy (DOE) released the updated 45ZCF-GREET model on Friday afternoon. They have also updated the accompanying user manual and include a document logging all the changes in this new 2026 model, as well as an FAQ.

The changes include the deduction of the indirect land use change (ILUC) penalty and the ineligibility of feedstocks sourced outside of the US, Mexico and Canada.

These updates provide much needed clarification for renewable fuel producers looking to claim the 45Z Clean Fuel Production tax credit for 2026.
