Six years ago, I marched after the senseless deaths of Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, and Michael Brown. Frankly, I expected to find mostly black people marching. But, I was surprised to find that many of those beside me were whites, g**s, le****ns, kids, the elderly, Europeans, Asians etc. Seeing ppl from different walks of life hit the streets and chant for hours because they felt the pain and suffering of a community that looks nothing like them gave me comfort and hope that progress was possible. Last night, I watched 60 minutes. I learned of a mother who lost a child when her child was hit by a car that was recklessly driven by a Saudi national. This man was placed under arrest and his passport was taken away. However, the Saudi consulate posted his $100K bail, removed the tracking device on his ankle, and put him on a plane back to Saudi where he is likely a free man. Outraged was not the word. I was sad for the mother and once again disappointed that justice was nowhere to be found when it was needed again. I hope the white mother on the show knows that this black man as well as many other ppl from many different walks of life feel her pain and demand change.
