QuickBooks Just Got Pricier. Make It Earn Its Keep
You opened your QuickBooks Online renewal and did a double take. Fair.
Starting with renewals on or after August 1, 2026, Intuit raised list prices on Essentials, Plus and Advanced, and Plus and Advanced took the biggest jumps. Cue the "should we switch to something cheaper?" conversations in break rooms everywhere.
Hold that thought.
What's actually going on
Most businesses we meet aren't overpaying because of the price tag. They're overpaying because they're using a fraction of what they bought. Classes set up and never used. Inventory turned on for a business that doesn't carry inventory. Three paid users for two people. A stack of apps that duplicate features already in the plan.
A price increase on software you're barely using is annoying. A price increase on software that runs your business well is a rounding error.
The BluJax Take
Don't flee QuickBooks. Fix how you use it. Switching platforms to save a few dollars a month usually costs far more in conversion time, retraining and messy history. (We do platform conversions, so trust us: we'll tell you when it's worth it, and it usually isn't for price alone.)
The better play: right-size the plan, kill the dead weight, and turn on the features you're paying for and ignoring.
Do This Today (10 minutes)
Open Settings → Subscriptions and billing and write down three things: your plan, your renewal date and how many users you pay for. Then ask your team one question: "What do we do in a spreadsheet that QuickBooks should be doing?" That answer tells you whether you're on the wrong plan, or just using the right one wrong.
