Free up valuable time and energy

Time is the one thing you can't make more of, followed closely by your energy. As a business owner you pour it into your business, sometimes burning the candle at both ends just to make your dream succeed. Your time is best spent running your business and making it grow, but yet there still are management tasks that you have to do as part of being a business owner.

No one gets into business just to keep the books, except us. Working with a bookkeeper frees you up from some of those management tasks by engaging with a professional who has experience working with businesses just like yours.

Do what you do best and outsource the rest. Working with a professional bookkeeper makes sure that while you are putting your best into growing your business, someone else is putting their best into making sure your business is on track. Do you want to see how this might work in your business? All it takes is one conversation to get things started via the link below.

Identify deductions - Reduce Liability

Taxes aren't magical.

Usually the government knows what your income is.
Usually they don't know what your deductions should be.

That means it's on your plate to figure out what your deductions should be. That's itemized deductions, such as other taxes you might pay or mortgage interest, and business deductions, the expenses you incur as part of running your business. Sure, for a lot of people, the standard deduction is the right answer. But on the business side there is no such thing as a standard deduction. You have to track and calculate your deductions or risk overpaying on your taxes.

Are you going at it alone to determine what deductions apply in your situation? What about trying to figure the most advantageous way to take your deductions? A tax professional helps you know what can be deducted, what can't, and how to handle it to keep as much in your pocket.

Review weekly, fix mistakes

Mistakes happen, that's just part of life. Same thing is true for the financials records of your business.

What you do after that mistake happens is key. Do you just let it go, which could cause cash flow issues or tax problems? Or do you do a regular review of your financials, to find those mistakes when they happen so they can get fixed?

Letting those mistakes remain increases the chances that they are never found, altering the story that gets told about your business in your financial records. It also increases the chances that the mistakes works its way into your tax return, either reducing a deduction you could have taken or causing you to pay more in taxes than what was required. Are those acceptable outcomes?

Are you putting together these records on your own, when you're not busy running your business? Does the fact that that is your second priority (at best) increase the chances a mistake is made? Are you then regularly reviewing your financials to find those mistakes? If your answers to those questions are feeling you less than confident in the books for your business, it might make sense to schedule a conversation to see if there is a better way.

Boost productivity, leverage financial skills

Bookkeepers help business owners make smarter decisions faster.

By turning raw data into insights, business owners are able to spot trends, forecast cash flows and plan strategically.
By helping business owners understand metrics like profit margins, burn rates and break-even points, bookkeepers enable better budgeting and investment decisions.
By automating routine management tasks such as accounting and payroll, bookkeepers help business owners be ready to work with other professionals, such as CPAs and financial advisors, gaining better tax outcomes and finding better financial strategies.

How confident are you trying to wing it on your own, hoping you don't miss something that becomes a costly problem later? Would you like to be working with team of professionals who free you up to do the things you do best? If you think that might warrant a conversation, click the link in the comment below and get it started.

Review records, claim deductions

Reviewing records and then claiming the supported deductions is one of the most powerful ways that both small businesses and individuals can reduce tax liabilities, if done correctly.
If your records are a mess, such as because you don't have prepared financials, then deductions might get missed.
If you're ever audited, those organized records provide the best protection against the IRS. Messy records are an unreliable defense.

If those records aren't retained when they are generated, there is a good chance they will be lost forever.

Are you making sure that the tax return you file each year is supported by the right documents? Maybe having a team of bookkeepers and tax preparers working together helps you retain the right records and use them to create the best deductions would be intriguing. Oh yeah, and the expense for the team of professionals is also tax deductible. Win-Win To get started, all it takes is a scheduling a consultation through the link in the comments.

Don't ignore small fees - They add up fast

We've all heard the saying 'death by a thousand cuts'. The same idea applies to your business. Small costs often get overlooked. This can be things like:
Unused and forgotten subscriptions
Banking fees
Transaction fees
ATM withdrawal fees
Late payment penalties
Without organizing your data into the information that makes up your business's books expenses like this can add up quickly and erode your profitability.

Are you watching every penny going out the door to make sure that everything is accounted for? Are you confident that there isn't a hidden drain on your finances? Do you want to gain that confidence? See the link in the comments to schedule a consultation.

Avoid tax time panic with organized finances year-round

There's an old saying "haste makes waste". This applies to your financials and taxes as well. Doing your financials at the last minute so you can get your taxes done at the last minute, mistakes are bound to happen, opportunities will be missed and stress will be high.

A far better approach might be to work with a professional during the course of the year, making sure that financials are maintained that accurately tell the story of your business over the course of the year. Then those financials are ready to go for tax time to make sure your return is completed with as little stress as possible.

If someone looked today at your financial records, would they see a dust covered shoebox stuffed with receipts or a well developed review of your business? If your answer isn't solidly the latter, reach out and start a conversation to discuss how we can help take that stress off your plate.

Study Reports, ask questions

When you get reports for your business, whether you are doing the bookkeeping yourself or working with a professional, do you ask questions to make sure you understand the information being presented? Owning a business hard and the information related to running it is rarely simple. If you don't understand it, you're less likely to make good decisions and more likely to delay decisions until you are forced into a course of action.

If someone asked you right now, what was happening this year in your business, and how that compared to the last year, or 3 years, how confident would your answer be? Send us a quick message if you would like to see how we might be able to help you gain that confidence in knowing how your business is doing.
