People in Palm Beach County - those signs regarding the amendment advocating for the 1/2 penny tax for our schools is a con. Nobody is charging you a half PENNY. It actually translates to increasing our sales tax rate by another 1/2 PERCENT on EVERY taxable purchase! They did this a few years ago with a "penny" tax. People voted for it and our rate went from 6% to 7%. Consider how much you pay each year in sales tax and whether you want to be required to get a rate increase that translates to a lot of dollars.
