I recently received a request to prepare a return for a prior year's client through our secure portal. In her documents was a screen shot from TurboTax where she paid them $197. It seems that she tried to prepare her return there and before she actually filed the returns, she could tell that something was very wrong. It had her owing $4,400 to the State of Wisconsin. So she's out the $197 that she paid to TurboTax, but she doesn't have to pay the $4,400 to Wisconsin because I prepared the return correctly. Here's the kicker. Our bill was only $175.14! I'm a real person and TurboTax is an inanimate software that is wrong 20% of the time! I guess that the grass isn't always greener.
