Anyone with dependent children under age 18 should watch their mail for IRS Child Tax Credit Letter 6419. I will need the information on there to reconcile the amount, if any, of the advanced child tax credit received in 2021. If an incorrect amount is claimed on your return it will cause a long delay in processing your tax return.
The letter is supposed to be mailed this month or in January.

If you got advanced child tax credit payments, you’ll need IRS Letter 6419 at tax time.

New information for the stimulus checks. If you normally get a refund, and used direct deposit, the IRS will use that bank account information and you will receive your money first.
If you normally owe, get a paper check, or get social security and do not normally file, they will mail those checks. They are supposed to be setting up a portal on the IRS website to enter your direct deposit information so that you will get the money faster. As soon as that comes available, I will share the link.
